Southern Uganda Namabaale Central Village
Once complete, Namabaale will make up 2,500 educational places and like our other Central Village school, Mannya, it will be a community hub for students, parents, teachers and locals.

Located near the border of the Lwengo and Rakai Districts
Being a Central Village, the kindergarten, primary and secondary buildings are all on the same grounds. A brand new healthcare centre has also been built and opened mid 2017, laying the foundation for a full rebuild of the kinder, primary and secondary schools. Our Quality Education Model has been rolled out across the three schools and teacher training has commenced.
The Namabaale community has long been affected by poor health, with the nearest health centre being 15km’s away. The centre offers a range of medical services, including child and maternal healthcare. Many women in Uganda have five children or more, and without nearby health care resources, go through pregnancy and childbirth without professional medical support. This centre will become a hub that works to improve child and maternal health and gives pregnant mothers a safe space to give birth under the supervision of trained midwives.
Nutrition Mission
Nutrition Mission is an educational program that empowers the local community to create healthy and sustainable futures. The six to eight week program covers topics like diet, nutrition and the impact of malnutrition through hands-on cooking and food preparation classes. At first the program seemed to only attract women, however, as the program becomes more popular within the community, a number of men have began attending too.
At the end of the course, participants leave feeling empowered, often going on to teach fellow community members the skills they’ve picked up, including how to grow and maintain their own vegetable gardens.
Ducere Creative Writing Classes
In 2017 we partnered with the Ducere Foundation to deliver inspiring creative writing master classes to teachers and students in Southern Uganda. The Ducere Foundation is an organisation that works with local governments and other Foundations with the desire to improve the quality of public education right across Africa.
The program focused specifically on developing the creative writing skills of teachers from Primary 6-7, Senior 1-2, as well as groups of students from each year level.
