The Nelson Mandela Centenary 2018 marks 100 years of Mandela’s life and legacy. It is the chance for the people around the world, to reflect on his life and continue his mission.
Mandela was passionate that all children should have access to quality education, he believed that education can change the world.
Through his work he partnered with rural schools to support infrastructural upgrades, community development and the implementation of quality education, a vision shared by Cotton On Foundation.
“As long as poverty injustice and gross inequality persists in our world, none of us can truly rest”
With those words in mind, we worked to keep the dream alive in 2015 we began our partnership with Ethekwini in Durban South Africa.
As one of the oldest schools in KwaMashu it accommodates students from across the area. Despite the challenges the school currently faces, it is a community full of hope, driven by a passionate leadership team, it is a safe space where a culture of teaching and learning shines through.
The Cotton On Foundation have been working closely with the local community to redevelop the existing school and add additional classroom to accommodate more students, we are counting down the days until we break ground this month.
