Welcome to 2018. For us here at Cotton On Foundation, this is set to be our biggest and best year yet and we’re off to a flying start.
We’re starting the year off with a bang! As students in Southern Uganda prepare to return to school another year, we’re focusing on getting organised, planning to raise more funds for our projects than ever before, and shining a light on special members of Cotton On Foundation supported communities who are Off to a Flying Start!
So what have we got in store for 2018?
The Four K’s. We’re looking forward to opening our 4K’s schools in Southern Uganda! A monumental moment for all involved, especially the kids. These four schools alone will create a massive 2,000 educational places, which will take us closer to our mission of establishing 20,000 educational places by 2020.
Education will continue to be the driving focus across all Cotton On Foundation supported communities, with the Quality Education Model expanding further, going from strength to strength. We’re very excited that four short story books written by the students in COF supported schools will be published in partnership with The Ducere Foundation. Watch this space for more information!
More Schools! We’ve identified communities that we will begin to support and partner with, and as we keep moving forward, we’ll begin to start development in these new areas.
Nutrition Mission is expanding again to new communities, including Mannya! The revolutionary program which has received a great response from participants focuses on empowering communities by providing training and mentorship surrounding the importance of quality food and nutrition with long term outcomes. The program recognises leaders within the class who are then trained as Nutrition Mission trainers, which establishes a sustainable outcome for the communities in which it is operating in.
Global Communities. We will continue to work alongside the community at Bwe’k’Lar school in Thailand as we develop the school program alongside our newly appointed Program Manager, Yim. Ethetkwini in South Africa‘s school development will also be ongoing, as we continue to scrutinise and improve the program to fit the community and environment.
NAIDOC week will be a shining moment for Cotton On Foundation’s project in the Northern Territory, Yirrkala, as we find more ways to connect our people to the supported project in our Global Support Centre’s own back yard.
Road to 10,000! With the planning of even more Cotton On Group team member trips to Uganda underway, we’re looking for the next group of passionate team members to be part of an experience of a lifetime and see first hand the impact that their actions make, each returning to be even bigger advocates.
New products! With our commercial team working alongside our Cotton On Group brands, our products with 100% of proceeds going towards empowering youth globally through quality education are set to be the best yet.
But that’s not all! We’re looking at new areas to develop into, with a focus on the QEM. We will continue to fill in the gaps from kinder through to university, so that no child is left behind. We will continue to grow strong relationships with the communities we partner with and look to new areas to start development in, bringing quality education to remote villages, because no child should have to journey miles to get to school. We will continue to support local projects close to the hearts of our people, creating global pathways of opportunity to youth all over the world.
The Cotton On Foundation is going from strength to strength as we fine tune our operations and systems every year. Each day, we’re getting closer to reaching our goal mission of establishing 20,000 educational places by 2020.
Stay tuned & get on board, because the best is yet to come…
